Netflix’s very latest K-drama, Queen of Tears, hits the tears of many audiences. The Kdrama romance formula of this series is refreshing and sweet at first. The story has began with the love story of a handsome office worker, Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) and intern, Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won), who is secretly a heiress to the company that they both work for. They married each other and started as a perfect couple living a life of luxury.

However, just like in real life, sweetness and perfection are only seen at the beginning of the relationship. The series takes a dramatic turn as three years have passed. Baek Hyun-woo became resentful of his wife, who is currently the CEO of the company. Because of this, their relationship is crumbling, they lack communication as partners, become distant, and live separate lives despite living as a married couple.

The story thickens as Hae-in reveals that she has a rare brain tumor and has been given only three months to live. Hyun-woo sees this as an opportunity to escape their marriage at first, but as the story unfolds, he discovers how much he loves Hae-in and that is when their crumbing marriage transforms into a journey of love and self-discovery.

Queen of Tears’ Heartfelt Connections

  • Hae In’s and Hyun Woo’s Marriage Life

Queen of Tears is all about the complexities of marriage and love. It showcases the struggles and misunderstandings of the married couple after the honeymoon phase, leading to the divorce. This series pretty explores the significance of being able to compromise, communicate, and support each other emotionally.

However, it is not only Hae In and Hyun woo’s relationship evolving in this drama.

  • Hae In’s and her Mother’s Relationship

Hae In’s mother always thinks that Hae In can handle herself, that is why Hae In grew up without getting so much love and attention from her mother. They are not close, but they are not on good terms either. But as Hae In revealed that she is sick in front of the press, her mother discovered her illness. That is when her mother realized how she had been so hard on her daughter, feeling guilty and sad, and resenting herself as she did not know what her daughter had been going through.

Examining the Production Quality

The production quality and cinematography are so good. It reflects the mood of the drama, in which is the key aspect that I’ve seen in Queen of Tears. Since Queen of Tears is more in the romance and drama genre, mood is very important and they have produced it well, making the audience ride a coaster full of emotions.

The costumes also portray the personality and social status of the audience effectively. You will see what kind of person and what life this person has been leading to, based on their outfits too. Meanwhile. The set design and choice of locations are good too. There are scenes from Germany that look so romantic, that many audiences would crave to go there too.

The overall production quality enhances the story of the K-drama.
